Maybe only a few years ago, you may never have even heard the name of Robbie Daymond. However, this excellent actor has had a meteoric rise and is now an actor to watch as he continues to do superlative work in the business.
Daymond is a true powerhouse, quickly landing a number of leading roles in anime and cartoons. Some of his notable performances in this field include SwaySway from the Nickelodeon show Breadwinners; Mumen Rider in One Punch Man; Gaelio Bauduin in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans; Lenka Utsugi in God Eater; Dr. Kurahashi in Sword Art Online II; Ren Tsuruga in Skip Beat!; and, of course, his defining, breakout role as Tuxedo Mask in Sailor Moon Crystal. Daymond has also done work in video games, such as Michelangelo in TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan, the studious male avatar from Xenoblade Chronicles X, and several voices in The Lego Movie Videogame. On top of all that, he has also started spreading his wings in ADR direction.
Daymond’s is an interesting story. According to his personal website, he got into theatrical acting around the age of ten and then never stopped. He started his post-secondary education at the Webster University Theater Conservatory before transferring to the University of Nevada, from which he graduated with a Master’s of Fine Arts in Acting in 2007. Then, he moved to Los Angeles and starting teaching the art of acting. Around 2010, he started booking voice acting gigs, as that was his dream, and then he left his teaching career behind to pursue voice acting work full time. Daymond has come a long way from the country boy on a Missouri estate and one can only imagine he will continue to do great work.
