Have you heard a lot of hype about essential oils lately? They’re becoming a staple in many homes as the need to live a cleaner, healthier life becomes a priority for people all over the globe but why are they popular? What makes essential oils so useful? First, we need to understand that this is not a new concept. Essential oils have actually been around a very long time. People in ancient times used them, as we had to live off the land and you couldn’t just go to the supermarket to buy something you needed. You can now buy them at places like Rouh Essentials Essentials oils. Back then, people knew how to work with what they found in their environment and many families today are going back to these natural roots to avoid certain chemicals in their homes and in their bodies.

So again, what makes essential oils so useful? If you have to choose one thing it would probably be their diversity. You can use them in a variety of ways for many different reasons. The fact that they can be used for so many things in your home and in your life means you can save money by tossing out so many other products and medicines. It also means you reduce clutter and that you can live a simpler lifestyle. Here are three things that make essential oils useful to have around.

What Makes Essential Oils so Useful

One: Use Them to Improve Your Physical Health

Essential oils are famous for their healing properties that make them an important part of healthy living. Many people use them to help improve their overall physical health or to ease the symptoms of certain medical conditions. Keep in mind that essential oils are not a miracle cure and if you have a serious medical condition, you should still follow the advice of your medical professional. That said, many people find these oils help with certain medical conditions and with small problems like cuts and scrapes. Since they’re all natural with few, if any side effects when used correctly, they make a great alternative to conventional methods of treating or preventing the following medical issues.

Here are some of the ways to use essential oils for your health:

  • Treat or prevent cold and flu symptoms
  • Joint and muscle pain relief
  • Aid the digestive system
  • Heal minor cuts and abrasions
  • Promote sleep
  • Treat infections
  • Soften skin and reduce premature aging

Some of the most common oils used for medical purposes include tea tree essential oil, lavender, peppermint, lemon, clove, eucalyptus and frankincense. Essential oils can help you with acne, eczema, moles, athletes foot, age spots, and more!

Two: Use Them to Improve Your Mental and Emotional State

Luxurious, Natural Body Care

Many users believe breathing in the aroma of certain essential oils will help relax you both mentally and emotionally. Aromatherapy has long been used to help affect mood and when you want to promote a happier, healthier mood, essential oils are a great choice. They soothe the mind and body to help you feel calm and in control. Some users say certain oils help them feel more positive and self-confident while others use them to control anxiety, anger, depression and mental fog or exhaustion for examples. You can use them with a diffuser in your bedroom, bathroom while taking a soothing bubble bath, in the office when you want to concentrate better, in your kitchen, living room, or pretty much anywhere else you choose. Lavender essential oil, orange, lemon, chamomile, rose, ylang ylang and frankincense are some of the most common oils used for improving your mental and emotional state.

Three: Add Them to Homemade Cleaning Supplies

Essential oils give your homemade cleaning supplies that extra power to clean and disinfect without exposing your family to harsh chemicals that are bad for your health. Some of the most popular oils to use for cleaning supplies include lemon essential oil, thyme, orange, peppermint, tea tree, rosemary, eucalyptus and pine. In addition to cleaning away dirt, these oils also help kill germs and viruses while eliminating odors that linger in the air.

As you can see, essential oils have many uses but they’re usefulness is not limited to personal use. Did you know that some hospitals, such as the Vanderbilt University Hospital, uses aromatherapy to help improve the medical care they provide for their patients? It gives you an idea of how much of an impact essential oils have made over recent years and they’re even affordable. Although they may seem expensive at first, the high-quality oils are extremely potent, so a little goes a long way.

I would start with diffusing them, especially if you love having nice scents in the home. That’s a simple way to get started and to learn about which oils do what and how they smell before delving into other uses.
